The Juries

The Algarve International Film Festival, usually has for its International Short Film Competition (in its competitive component), an International Official Jury, an International Youth Jury, a Press Jury and a Jury of the Public.
The International Official Jury has 5 to 9 elements of known competence and knowledge, invited among an group of internationally well known personalities that usually move around circles mainly related to short film production.

The most important decisions generally belong to the International Official Jury, ruled by orientation patterns suggested by the Festival’s Board of Directors, tending to prize only the works that score adequately, in order to maintain and guaranty the quality of the winning films of this Festival.

As soon as the Festival’s Board of Directors guide lines are accepted and agreed, the Jury takes his own decisions without any interference.

Only in case of equality of votes or difficult decision, the Festival Director will make use of his vote.

There is also a "Prize of the Public", voted by a diverse panel of the spectators attending to all sessions of the Festival.

It became usual in the F.I.C.A. that directors of other Festivals attribute their own prizes. It is also common that many directors of other festivals come to the Algarve, and so, the Board of Directors of the Algarve International Film Festival gives a special attention to this event in each edition, and a very special care.

In the closing ceremony we live, unique moments of friendship, true gathering and above all "culture without frontiers", that truly touch those who visit us and ourselves as well.

The ambience and great quality of the films that are generally selected for the final, in each FICA edition, make that those who normally come to the Algarve for the first time, will come back in the following years.
